Marta Rak

Marta Rak ist Tänzerin und Choreografin aus Rijeka (Kroatien). Sie begann ihre künstlerische Laufbahn an der Ballettgrundschule und performte mit HNK Ivan pl. Zajc. Nach einem Bachelorabschluss in Kulturwissenschaften an der Philosophischen Fakultät in Rijeka studierte sie Zeitgenössischen Tanz an der Iwanson Akademie in München. Im Juli 2022 schloss sie ihr Masterstudium in Tanzpädagogik an der Palucca Hochschule in Dresden ab. Marta hat an verschiedenen Produktionen in Deutschland, Kroatien, Großbritannien und Italien mitgewirkt und dabei als Choreografin, Choreografische Assistenz, Forscherin, Performerin und Pädagogin gearbeitet. Sie hat mit namhaften Künstler*innen wie Staša Zurovac, Hannes Langolf, Moritz Ostruschnjak, Tamara Gvozdenović, Johannes Härtl und dem Tanzkollektiv Magija für das Inclusive Scenes Festival zusammengearbeitet.

2021 wirkte Marta als Choreografin an der Produktion des Kammerspiels „Ličnost u Izgradnji“ mit. Im Oktober 2023 feierte ihr erstes abendfüllendes Stück „Appropriations: Territory“ in Rijeka Premiere. Sie zeige anschließend das Stück „Krabuja: Mirroring Territory“ als fortlaufendes Kapitel in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Periskop Festival und Dance Net Croatia im Oktober 2024.

Neben ihrer eigenen künstlerischen Tätigkeit arbeitet Marta als Tanztrainerin und tanzt weiterhin als freiberufliche Tänzerin.

Marta Rak is a dancer and choreographer from Rijeka, Croatia. She began her artistic journey at the elementary ballet school and performed with HNK Ivan pl. Zajc. After earning a bachelor’s degree in cultural studies from the Faculty of Philosophy in Rijeka, she pursued contemporary dance at the Iwanson Academy in Munich. In July 2022, she completed her MA in dance pedagogy at Palucca University in Dresden. Marta has participated in various productions across Germany, Croatia, the UK, and Italy, contributing as a choreographer, assistant choreographer, researcher, performer, and educator. She has collaborated with notable artists such as Staša Zurovac, Hannes Langolf, Moritz Ostruschnjak, Tamara Gvozdenović, Johannes Härtl, and the Magija dance collective for the Inclusive Scenes festival.

In 2021, Marta contributed as a choreographer to the production of closet drama “Ličnost u Izgradnji”. In October 2023, she premiered her first authorial work, Appropriations: Territory, in Rijeka, supported by the Bavarian State Ministry for Science and the Arts and the city of Rijeka. She presented Krabuja: Mirroring Territory as a continuing chapter in collaboration with Periskop Festival and Dance Net Croatia in October 2024. 

In addition to her artistic pursuits, Marta teaches and performs as a freelancer.
